What is a virtual classroom?
Virtual classroom training is essentially a teaching and learning environment where participants can interact, communicate, view and discuss presentations, and engage with learning resources while working in groups, all in an online setting.
Delivered by highly qualified and experienced Child Wise trainers, our virtual classrooms are very interactive and limited to a small class of up to 20 participants to ensure a complete learning experience for participants.

Understanding the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations aims to provide participants with a clear understanding of the Australian child safety context. It aims to provide a practical understanding of the requirements and indicators of the National Principles through a range of interactive activities and shared stories.

Staff and volunteers that work with children and/or young people, both directly and indirectly.

Building a Child Safeguarding Culture and Influencing Change
Building a child safeguarding culture and influencing change examines the importance of child safety at every level. It aims to help participants develop an understanding of the tools used to assess their organisation’s maturity on a child safety spectrum. Our trainers will take attendees through the journey of a child safety officer, examine different operating structures and present tools to help plan a longer-term strategy.
This virtual training program works well in conjunction with our Understanding the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations program.
Who should attend?
This virtual training program is recommended for experienced professionals who have a responsibility to lead the implementation of a child safe environment for children and young people. This can include senior leaders and managers, including CEOs and Board Members, as well as HR professionals who have prior training or knowledge of child protection.

Safeguarding Children in Overseas Ministries
Safeguarding Children in Overseas Ministries aims to help build the capacity of religious organisations to effectively safeguard children in overseas ministries. It aims to equip participants with knowledge of the legal framework for child abuse and child protection and how to conduct a child safeguarding risk assessment.
Who should attend?
Staff and volunteers at religious organisations that conduct overseas ministries. This virtual training is also recommended for those who manage front-line staff or who have responsibility for keeping children safe via a child safeguarding portfolio.

Recognising and Responding to Child Abuse
Recognising and Responding to Child Abuse aims to help participants understand the various forms of child abuse and neglect. This includes, identifying the signs and indicators of child abuse and how to gain confidence in responding to and reporting any concerns about a child’s safety. The training provides an overview of the legislative context around child safety and mandatory reporting at an introductory level.
Who should attend?
Staff and volunteers that work with children and/or young people directly or indirectly and have had little or no prior knowledge of child abuse.

‘Meaningful Engagement with Children and Young People’ breaks down the difference between broad engagement with children in the child safety space and practicing meaningful consultation.
This interactive program aims to build the capacity of participants to improve their skills in engaging with children and young people, as well as developing meaningful strategies for planning, facilitating and evaluating consultation with children and young people.
Who should attend?
This program is suitable for staff, volunteers and managers from organisations that work with or engage children and young people in their services.
An existing knowledge of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations is recommended.

Managing online risks while working with children and young people
Managing online risks while working with children and young people unpacks the actions that organisations need to take to ensure their children and young people are safe in online environments. This includes ensuring organisations meet their obligations under state and federal Government Child Safe Standards and Principles. This training will explore how organisations can ensure they are providing safe online spaces and how to engage with children and young people in these spaces.
Who should attend?
Staff and volunteers delivering services that support children, young people and families. This virtual training is also recommended for those who manage front-facing staff or who have responsibility for keeping children safe via a child safeguarding portfolio.
